If you're a contributor, have a read of Paperweight's house style guide before pitching to us. We welcome all ideas for articles via email at pitch[at]paperweightmag.com or by writing to us at 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE.
Thank you for thinking of Paperweight, we’re really keen to hear your pitch. Although currently available as a digital edition only, our ambition is to produce four to six print editions each year. This informs our current online publishing drumbeat; we’re looking for articles that will have a long shelf life. Writing about the very latest developments is welcome, but imagine that the reader happens upon your piece up to two months after the event. Will it still be interesting, or will it have been long forgotten? That said, always check with our editorial team. There may be an angle on the same subject that fits a future edition and has a little more longevity.
Get to know the sections of the magazine so that you have an idea of which section your idea might be published under. Our guiding ethos is “The curiosity to dream that greater things - and a greater world - are possible.” although we won’t turn our nose up at the odd bit of salacious gossip.
We’re interested in shorts, standard features, and long reads. So the length could be anything from 600 words to over 3,000.
We would describe ourselves as ‘nerdy-but-epicurean’. If you’re deeply interested in something and can write well about it, we want to hear all about it.
We pay for pictures and articles upon acceptance. Although as a new magazine, funded by our founder and editor-in-chief, we recognise that our rates are likely to be lower than some other publications.
Send your ideas to pitch[at]paperweightmag.com - we’ll get back to you within a week.
