Heading up to the Fringe can now be more expensive than a trip on the Orient Express, but if you've managed to bag somewhere to stay this August, here's a selection of the comedy shows to see:

Ahir Shah: Golden

The last time Ahir Shah came to the Fringe in 2023, he won the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show and got offered a Netflix special, which means expectations are now set exceptionally high. Shah's new show, Golden, discusses "love, money, family, responsibility, fear, forever and frogs". Ahir Shah has a gift for weaving deeply sad, serious, or moving moments into his stand-up, before dropping the audience back into a state of hysterical laughter. Somehow this is all handled beautifully and sensitively. It's certain that there won't be a dry eye in the house.

Every evening, from 6th to 30th August.
